Mica Weiland
BIOGRAPHY
Mica Weiland is a conductor and violist based in Seattle, USA. She is currently completing the final year of her bachelor’s degree at the University of Washington, where she is earning degrees in Orchestral Conducting and Viola Performance.
She is the founder and Music Director of the Leonore Chamber Orchestra, the University of Washington’s leading wholly student-run ensemble. Founded in 2023, the orchestra has since presented over a dozen performances. Mica also serves as Assistant Conductor of the Seattle Collaborative Orchestra, an ensemble dedicated to performing works by underrepresented composers, a mission she is deeply committed to. Since 2023, she has additionally held the position of Assistant Conductor for the University of Washington orchestras.
Her previous engagements include serving as Assistant Conductor with Symphony Tacoma and with the Prague Summer Nights Young Artists Music Festival.
Dedicated to continued artistic growth, Mica will graduate from the University of Washington in June 2026 and plans to pursue graduate-level studies in orchestral conducting.
Mica studies conducting with Dr. David Rahbee and Micah Gleason. She has participated in conducting masterclasses with distinguished conductors including Jorma Panula, Johannes Schlaefli, Miguel Harth-Bedoya, Mark Heron, Ludovic Morlot, Carlo Montanaro, and Marin Alsop.
In Spring 2026, Mica will compete in the inaugural Pass the Baton undergraduate conducting competition hosted by the Symphony of the Americas.
