Biography

Mica Weiland is an American-Luxembourgish conductor currently based in Seattle, USA. She is the founder and Music Director of the Leonore Chamber Orchestra, Seattle’s first pre-professional training orchestra. Founded in 2023, the orchestra has since presented over a dozen performances.

Dedicated to the pursuit of artistic growth, Mica has participated in masterclasses with distinguished conductors including Jorma Panula, Johannes Schlaefli, Benjamin Levy, Miguel Harth-Bedoya, Mark Heron, Ludovic Morlot, Carlo Montanaro, and Marin Alsop.

She has recently conducted ensembles such as the Orchestre National de Cannes, the Paris Mozart Orchestra, Kammerorchester Basel, and the Symphony of the Americas.

In Spring 2026, Mica was a finalist in the inaugural Pass the Baton undergraduate conducting competition hosted by the Symphony of the Americas. She is also a finalist for the 2026 American Prize in Conducting.

She has held positions as the assistant conductor for the University of Washington orchestras, Symphony Tacoma, and the Prague Summer Nights Young Artists Music Festival. In addition, she was the 2025–26 assistant conductor for the Seattle Collaborative Orchestra, an ensemble dedicated to performing works by underrepresented composers, a mission to which she is deeply committed.

Mica graduated in June 2026 from the University of Washington, where she earned her Bachelor of Music in viola performance. She studied viola with Dr. Melia Watras and orchestral conducting with Dr. David Rahbee.

In September 2026, Mica will relocate to Lyon, France, where she will study French and continue her conducting endeavors, specifically focusing on promoting cultural diplomacy through music and diversifying orchestral programming.
